Fund Line-up Comparison Tool - Raffa Retirement
The Need for Consistent and Objective Review
ERISA regulations expect plan fiduciaries to understand the investment options, services offered and plan fees charged by their service providers. Guidance provided by the Department of Labor, ERISA and industry best practices encourages plan sponsors to benchmark their retirement plan every three to five years. However, each service provider and their retirement plan offerings are different, and the process of analyzing “apples and oranges” without having uniform metrics that are easy to understand can be overwhelming.
The Raffa Retirement Services Fund Line-up Comparison Tool
Raffa Retirement Services, in partnership with the Center for Fiduciary Management, is proud to introduce the Fund Line-up Comparison Tool (FLCT). Seamlessly integrated with the Raffa Retirement Services Fiduciary Monitoring System and using a proprietary 12-point scoring methodology, the FLCT analysis consolidates investment performance, service provider fees and investment fees to objectively compare provider investment line-ups.
How it Works
Through a simple process of inputting existing and proposed fund line-ups, the Fund Line-up Comparison Tool will compare service provider portfolios evaluating fees and performance. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of certain fund options is easy due to the side-by-side comparison and all-inclusive output. Comparing performance, net and total expenses, the FLCT highlights how fees are a key component of investment returns and supports the need to benchmark plans regularly.
The report also allows you to:
- Compare asset weighted returns for year-to-date, 1-year, 5-year and 10-year.
- Calculate and compare true total expenses and expense ratios.
- Detail different layers of plan fees, including:
- Asset-based
- Wrap
- Per participant
- Flat dollar
- Custom

- Compare investment line-ups side-by-side.
- View the impact of fees on plan assets.
